Tilta has launched a tripod. The company is more known for its cages and accessories than for hacking Blackmagic camera. Three, actually. The 2-Stage and 3-Stage Tilta CT08/CT12 Carbon Fibre Tripods are the two.

All three tripods feature a 75mm bowl at the top and come with a Tilta Cine Fluid Head 75mm. The CT08 has a payload of 8kg while the CT12 is 12kg. This allows for very heavy setups.

Tilta CT12: A sturdy tripod with a payload of up to 12kg

The Tilta CT12 tripod is the largest of the three. This is a two-stage, one-touch carbon fibre tripod. The tripod has a bowl of 100mm at the top to accommodate large heads, but also comes with an adapter from 100mm-75mm and a Tilta 75mm Cine Fluid Head on top.

You can mount some heavy-duty camera rigs to it. You can use the bubble levels in the dark thanks to the light assisted bubble level. The level offers +90/-60 degree tilt and 360 degrees pan with drag adjustment for both.

With the two-stage, one-touch carbon fibre legs you can unlock three sections with a flick of the switch on the top of each leg. The legs are not “one touch” but “one touch per leg”. At least, there are no individual adjusters.

Tilta CT08: 8kg payload and still beefy

The CT08 is not a lighter version of the CT12, as it is still a very solid tripod. It’s a tripod that can hold up to 8kg (17.6lb). There are two versions. The two-stage, one-touch version is shown above. There is also a 3-stage version.

The two-stage tripod is designed more like the traditional video tripod legs, whereas the three-stage looks more similar to a photography tripod. Both designs are quite similar to those of the Manfrotto Fast Dual Leg and Manfrotto Fast One Leg tripods.

Both feature a 75mm dish and include the Tilta Cine Fluid Head. The CT12 appears to be a completely different model, but the tripod plate compatibility is Arca Swiss and not Manfrotto PL. It seems odd, but there could be a mistake.
