A 72-year old Scottish tourist was terrified by a bear in Romania while taking pictures from her car. The incident happened on the Transfagarasan Highway, which is a scenic route that has been featured on popular TV shows Top Gear.

Moira Gallacher was taking a picture of a bear through the window of her car when the bear attacked her. She said she felt “sore”, but her injuries were not serious.

Food Shopping

Local residents said that bears are often seen approaching vehicles near the Vidraru dam, where the incident occurred. They were searching for food. Tourists ignore safety instructions despite warnings by authorities. This can lead to dangerous situations such as this.

The woman’s hand was injured by a bear bite, according to emergency services. She was treated immediately to stabilize her condition.

The Romanian authorities have warned against approaching wild animals, highlighting the dangers involved. Law prohibits feeding wild animals. Residents are encouraged to contact emergency services when they see a bear.

Growing problem

This incident illustrates the difficulties of living with Romania’s bear population which is estimated to be around 8,000. Recent incidents involving bears have prompted debates about population control. Environmental groups oppose proposals to increase culling of bears, and argue for conservation efforts.

The problem is the human race

Every year, individuals are injured or even killed while taking selfies and photos of animals. can be dangerous when people get too close. The animal may panic, and become dangerous.

Unfortunately, many of these creatures end up being destroyed for safety reasons when in reality it was stupidity on the part of humans that caused the problem.

Gallacher’s story reminds us that wildlife photography is a dangerous activity. You are not safe even if you think your car is secure.
