Canon has recently released the ultra-wide zoom RF 10-20MM F/4 L IS STM Lens ( $2,299.00 ) for full frame mirrorless cameras. This lens is intended to be a replacement for the EF 11-24mm lens.

This is a focal length range you won’t use all the time. It is a great lens for landscape and architecture photography. Canon’s widest lens in the RF series was put through its paces and I had a chance to test it out.

Here’s a quick disclaimer: I’m a professional photographer and videographer, and this lens was part of my normal gear. I will not go into technical details. I will give you a general idea about how this lens would be a great addition to any photographer’s kit bag.

It feels solid and is half the weight of its predecessor. It’s great that this lens is lightweight, as it could be ideal for landscape photographers on long hikes. It was great to find that it mounted easily on my RS3 mini-gimbal without any problems.

A built-in lens cover is another feature. It’s really handy with a wide-angle lens, and it’s less likely to be lost! The camera also has a super-quiet STM focusing motor, and the latest in image stabilisation technology. This will eliminate any “fluttering” at the edge of the frame. It can provide up to five stops of stabilisation by itself and more if it is paired with an IBIS camera.
