Some people don’t seem to know how to behave during weddings. From family fights to guests proposing in the middle of a reception, we’ve heard it all. As a wedding photographer, I would like to share with you some of the worst and most ridiculous things I see behind the lens at weddings.
Bring a stranger to your wedding
The majority of wedding hosts will allow an extra guest for friends and family. However, this is typically for couples. Some rude guests bring extra guests even though they were not invited to the wedding or bring strangers that they have just met. This is not always a big deal, until the stranger becomes a party animal.
Blocking the Photographer’s Shot
Wedding photographers will do anything to capture the perfect shot at the right time. I’ve photographed many happy couples as they bobbled and weaved around guests. Some wedding guests do not seem to realize that they are blocking the photographer while they try to take their own pictures!
Many times I have asked a little grandmother to move a few inches to allow me to take the perfect picture. You should always remember that the photographer will capture the exact same photo as you do on your phone – only in a higher quality.
Discussing important moments
While we all enjoy catching up with old friends that we haven’t spoken to in a long time, there are some moments where silence is the best policy, such as the ceremony, cake cutting and speeches. One guest is always talking too loudly and doesn’t seem aware of the dirty looks they are getting from others.

Avoid topics such as exes, stories of drugs, sex or other illicit topics (weddings tend to be family-friendly and nobody wants to offend grandma with these stories), or anything else that might upset the bride or groom.
