Viltrox may be taking a break from producing Canon RF mount lens but they are still making Z mount lenses. The autofocus 40mm lens ( click here ) for full frame Nikon Z mount cameras has just been announced.

This affordable lens has a slightly larger field of view, making it perfect for group portraits, street photography and group events. It’s lightweight enough to carry around all day.

The ideal walking lens is the Viltrox 40mm f/2.5Z

It’s slightly wider than “standard” lenses of 50mm with a 40mm focal length. This is not a bad thing, unless you want more reach. In that case, you are looking at the wrong lenses. It’s wider and offers some benefits.

You can crop in post-production to achieve the perfect composition if you use the same distance as a 50mm lens. If you notice that the horizontals are a bit off, or you missed something in the edge, you can crop in post to get the perfect composition.

This is also ideal for street photography where you cannot always predict how the final frame will appear. It’s not always easy to get the perfect composition when people are moving. This focal length is also great for general walks with family and friends, or group events.

The lens is lightweight, only weighing 181g. It won’t put strain on your neck or wrists, even if you carry it all day. It has a focus distance that is only 34cm. This allows you to get close to your subject.

This lens is a bit more expensive than TTArtisan’s 40mm f/2.8 Lens but it doesn’t limit you to APSC cameras and has autofocus.
